The Citizen Voice Club and Coimbatore Consumer and Environment Centre have appealed to the State Dairy Development Minister to provide kits to test milk to all milk booths.

In a statement, they thanked the Minister for taking action against those selling adulterated milk. They urged him to take action against the Aavin booths that sell snack items without obtaining prior permission from authorities. “These booths do not sell Aavin ghee, butter milk and flavoured milk, but sell other snack items,” they said and urged the authorities to install GPS in Aavin lorries that supply milk.

They wanted the Government to open automatic milk vending machines in all Chinthamani cooperative supermarkets, ward offices of all municipalities and Corporations to compete with private sellers and to help dairy farmers who were given free cows by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
