Policeman on election duty succumbs to injuries

Coimbatore : A police constable, attached to Tamil Nadu Special Police and on election duty in the city succumbed to injuries that he sustained in an accident involving two motorcycles on the Bypass Road.

Sub Inspector of Police, Kuppuraj and Constable Srinivasan were going on a motorcycle Thursday afternoon for election duty on the Bypass Road, when another motorcyclist hit them from behind, resulting in serious injuries to all the three, police said today.

All the three were admitted to the Government Hospital here. However, Srinivasan, hailing from Chennai, succumbed to injuries around midnight yesterday.

After postmortem, the body was handed over to the relatives today.
