BJP, today, asked Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to immediately visit Kerala and apologise to the people for Chief Minister Oomen Chandy’s imbroglio with solar scam accused Saritha Nair.

“Rahul Gandhi, instead of giving sermons or visiting States, should first visit Kerala and apologise for what is happening there”, BJP National General Secretary Muralidhar Rao, told reporters here.

Stating that the Congress and corruption were synonymous, Rao, here to oversee the arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on February 2, said that Chandy would be increasingly become a liability to the State and Congress.

When asked about seeking his resignation, he said that Kerala people had already sought it and they were yearning for “Congress-mukth-Kerala” (Congress-free Kerala), on the line of “Congress-mukth-Bharath”, coined by BJP.

To a question on the allegations by Chandy that this was the handiwork of the Opposition, Rao asked: “Who is Saritha ? She is not from BJP or CPIM. With whom she is associated and the trial court that asked her to register an FIR against him is not a BJP court. Why is he (Chandy) talking against the Court ?”

On Congress appealing against the dissolution of Arunachal Pradesh Government, Rao said that the President had given the assent based on the recommendations of the Home Ministry. Moreover, it was the border, and a sensitive State and the political parties should not politicise the issue, Rao said.

On the controversy about a Karnataka Minister slapping an official, Rao said that he was following the footsteps of his mentor and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who had slapped an officer some time ago.

He said the Modi government had done much for Tamil Nadu and its growth. The diplomatic efforts taken by the government had reduced the tension in Sri Lanka and were proceeding towards the direction of solving the fishermen problem.
