Coimbatore : City-based Royal Care Super Specialty Hospital is launching a “Real Time Data Transfer Facility during Ambulance transfers” of patients from one hospital to another.
To overcome the various challenges like identifying and managing life threatening events and lack of real time supervision and guidance of patients, the hospital is introducing the Remote Monitoring System, which shares data between the ambulance and the ICU, the hospital Chairman, Dr K Madeshwaran, told reporters on Monday,
Claimed to be the first of its kind facility in South India, this system will transmit patients’ vital parameters like pulse rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels and ECG on a real time basis continuously from the ambulance to the ICU till they are admitted to the hospital, he said.
At the ICU end, a dedicated team will monitor the transmitted data and provide necessary guidance for the management of the patients, he said pointing out that this would enhance the safety of the patients during transfer and ensure preparedness of further management by various teams in the hospital.
Real time data transfer would thus vastly improve communication flow and increase work efficiency, saving time and lives, Dr Madeswaran said.
