Sudhasana R. and Venkat S. are childhood friends turned entrepreneurs. The duo gave up their plum paying jobs in the IT sector to start On De Os, a company that offers services in various fields like plumbing and electrical among others.

“The two of us are based out of Madurai and it was on one fine morning that we decided to join hands to start this company because we realized that on one hand, people in Madurai and other cities need reliable servicemen to carry out odd jobs in their homes and office. And on the other hand the skilled labourers also require work to support their families,” Sudhasana, one of the founders of On De Os says.

In order to bring the serviceman and the client together, the duo has plans of launching an app that will allow the customer to opt for what services he or she requires.

Currently, the founders of his company are testing this business model through a website and the services are available in the city of Madurai per se. However, we are told that the services will be made available in Coimbatore very soon. Also, in a few months time, founders of On De Os will launch their mobile app through which customers can request for services. This app will be launched in multiple cities soon. This app will also enable the customer to track the status of the service that he or she has requested for.

From basic to complicated electrical works and repairs, plumbing works and repairs, all variations of pest control, AC repair works, kitchen appliances’ repair works, water tank clean up services and carpentry work, the company has a team of dedicated technicians who have the experience and the expertise in carrying out the work.

The founders of On De Os share with us that no professional is employed by the company on a full time basis. Depending on the nature of the task, the founders chose from the available manpower and assign the task to a particular technician who is available and who is willing to do the job.

Before a technician is used the founders of On De Os do a background check which includes carrying out an informal research about the individual from various sources. The professional is also required to submit his proof of address and identity proof. As part of their procedure, the founders of On De Os visit the home of the professional and this process is documented.

The company charges its clients on an hourly basis. Before executing the job, the customer is made aware of how much the particular service will cost and only when the customer is happy with the pricing, the technician performs the service. As soon as a particular service is requested for by the customer, On De Os takes anywhere between 30-minutes to three hours to ensure the technician reaches the door step of the customer.
