Coimbatore-based Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW), a major textile machinery manufacturer, has designed and developed a solar powered mini Ring Frame, that would benefit the Khadi industry, for youth self-employment and women empowerment even in remote villages.

The company, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, has joined hands with the Ministry of MSME for bringing in the new machine to meet the growing needs of the customers.

Union Minister of State for MSME, Giriraj Singh, during his recent visit to the city had unveiled the solar power mini ring frame, a release from LMW said today.

The mechanised mini ring frame with 32 spindles is driven using solar energy and designed with a host of features that ensure high productivity, quality of yarn and also provide utmost safety and user-friendliness, the release added.

The machine is capable of producing high quality yarn in counts from 10s to 60s with solar power for nine hours a day.

Peak production can be obtained between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and this will fulfill the ever demanding request of Khadi industry with a mechanised machine and safety features.

Singh has requested the company to develop a new spinning machine for producing yarn out of coir fibre and wanted to realise Mahatma Gandhi’s dream as the product should be affordable to the downtrodden and also help them earn a living, the release said.

LMW chairman and managing director Sanjay Jayarathanavelu said that the company was always in the forefront fulfilling customer needs with use of unconventional energy as well as reducing power consumption through energy reduction modules for regular spinning mills.

“The mini ring frame will help upliftment of rural community across the nation,” Sanjay said.
