Talks on alliance for the upcoming Assembly polls in Tamil Nadu were in progress, and a final decision would be announced by the Central leadership, according to senior BJP leaders here today.

A host of national and State party leaders are descending on the city to oversee and inspect the arrangements for the whirlwind visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 2. The PM will attend two functions and address a public meeting.

Party National Secretary, H. Raja, and State President Tamilisai Sounderarajan told reporters that a strong alliance was in the offing in Tamil Nadu and the election outcome would break all predictions and poll surveys.

“By enrolling 50 lakh members to the Party, BJP has become strong in the State and no Party can form the government without the party’s support,” Tamilisai said.

Stating that majority of the departments in Tamil Nadu were immersed in corruption, Raja said that BJP, if voted to power, would provide corruption-free administration and work for the development of the State and people.

On 4-party People’s Welfare Front, Raja said that on an average the Front may get 3,000 votes per constituency.

Modi’s address, kick-starting the election campaign, would be a turning point in the history of Tamil Nadu politics, Tamilisai claimed.

Modi government at the Centre was focusing on the development of Tamil Nadu and welfare of the people, as was evident in the inclusion of Chennai and Coimbatore in the Smart Cities list, which had no political motive, as alleged by some, she said.

To a question on taking the dismissed AIADMK MLA, Pazha Karuppiah back into the Party, Tamilisai said that senior politicians and clean hands like him would be an asset to the Party.
