Coimbatore: About 1,000 students from Sri Ramakrishna Paramedical College participated in a rally from Sri Ramakrishna Hospital to Gandhipuram on the eve of World Tuberculosis Awareness Day organised by Sri Ramakrishna Hospital and Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Paramedical Sciences in collaboration with Revised National Tuberculosis Program.
The rally was flagged o D. Lakshminarayanaswamy, Joint Managing trustee of SNR Sons Charitable Trust.
Dr. Vani, Pulmonologist of Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital spoke on RNTCP- Update on drug resistant TB while Dr. Loganathan, Consultant pulmonologist at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital spoke on diagnosis of Tuberculosis explaining, “The usual symptoms of Pulmonary Tuberculosis are persistent cough, fever, night sweats, weight loss and blood in sputum”.
The theme for world TB day 2018 is Wanted- “Leaders for a TB free World.” An estimated 2.2 lakh people die annually due to TB, reports state.
