Coimbatore : A middle-aged woman on Monday attempted to commit suicide by consuming poisonous powder on the the district collectorate premises, claming that a lawyer had framed a false case against her.

Being grievances day, Maheshwari (43) a resident of Rathinapuri in the city arrived the collectorate to submit petition, she suddenly took a pack of cowdung powder and started consuming it with water, leading to some anxious moments, police said.

However, police on duty and a few members of public, overpowered her and prevented her from consuming the Poison.

She was then sent to the Government Hospital for treatment, they said.

While being taken, Maheswari accused a lawyer for framing false case against her due which she was upset. Police are investigating.
