Three halt stations on Salem- Namakkal section to be withdrawn due to poor patronage

Due to poor patronage on Salem-Namakkal Section and Erode-Trichy Station, Salem Division is withdrawing three halt stations.

The halt railway stations, managed by contractors should have an outgoing passenger count of 25 minimum per day in branch lines.

However, it has been observed that from April 2017 to Deccember 2017, the three halt stations, the passenger count falls way below that mark and as such, it is proposed to withdraw passenger train service halts and subsequently close the halt stations from March 19, railway release said.

Puduchatram in Salem-Karur Section between Rasipuram and Kalangani will be stopped, as the average passenger per day is 0 and average earnings per day and month are zero 0.

Laddivadi in Salem-Karur Section between Namakkal and Mohanur, as the average passenger per day is 0.6 ( that is less than 1), average earnings per day is Rs.3.15 and average earnings per month Rs.11.08.

Mekkudi in Karur-Trichy Section between Jiyapuram and Mutharasanallur as the average passenger per day is 20.32, average earnings per day is Rs.276.40 and average earnings per month is Rs.4,929.16.
