Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy today joined issue with Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan who had said Tamil Nadu of late was becoming a training centre and camp for terrorism. The Chief Minister said that it was the most peaceful State in the country.

“It is a blatant lie. In the present situation, Tamil Nadu is the most peaceful State in India and law and order is also very good,” Palanisamy told reporters at city airport.

Both the Centre and State governments were functioning to serve the people and working jointly for their benefit, he said, but the ideology of the both parties was totally different.

“I do not know,” was his reply to a question on the confession by Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam that he joined hands with Palanisamy, following advice from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Paneerselvam had taken pains for the cause of the party and now both (he and OPS) were taking the party to higher levels and blamed the media for blowing up the issue out of proportion.The proposed entry of film stars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan would not have any impact on AIADMK and nobody could defeat the party, he said.

Blaming the DMK for the prolonged dispute on Cauvery water issue, Palanisamy said the party had not renewed the 1974 agreement which was the root cause for the problem and now its working president MK Stalin claimed that AIADMK was the cause of the problem. This was a blatant lie, he added.

It was the case filed by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa which resulted in getting Tamil Nadu its due share of water, while DMK had done nothing for the State when it was ruling at the Centre with Congress, he said.

The Chief Minister also expressed hope that the Centre would constitute the Cauvery Management Board within six weeks as directed by the Supreme Court in its verdict, which will be in force for another 15 years.
