Traffic diversions for PM’s visit

The city police have announced traffic diversions on Avinashi Road ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city here on Tuesday.

Modi, who is visiting the city, will inaugurate the ESIC medical college near Singanallur and later address a public meeting at CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex in the evening.

To avoid traffic congestion and to ensure safety, the police have diverted traffic on Avinashi Road.

According to a release, all heavy duty vehicles from Avinashi and Karumathampatti should use the L&T by-pass near Neelambur to enter the city via Trichy Road and then enter Avinashi Road at Laxmi Mills Junction via Ramanathapuram from 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Heavy duty vehicles from Gandhipuram and Anna Statute will exit the city from Laxmi Mills Junction on Avinashi Road and use Trichy Road to reach Avinashi Road near Neelambur again by using the L&T by-pass from 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday.

The same diversions will be followed by all types of vehicles after 1.00 p.m.

Meanwhile, city police have beefed up the security in the city by involving 6,000 police personnel from various districts. Areas including Gandhipuram, Flower market, Town Hall, Ukkadam, Singanallur, International Airport and CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, are being patrolled by police.

In a tragic incident, Nehru, Special Sub-Inspector from the Sholurmattam Police station in the Nilgris who was travelling to Coimbatore for security of PM’s visit to a heart attack. He was pronounced brought dead to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
