In a tragic incident, a 30-year old woman died on the spot, when a big branch of a road side tree fell on the car in which she wasm travelling, today.

Ilakkiya, hailing from Mettur in Salem district in the State, had come here to visit her friend, who is hospitalised, police said.

As Sathyaseelam, a constable attached to the town police, and the husband of the sick woman, was taking Ilakkiya to the hospital, the branch of a Cypress tree fell on the left side of the car, where she was sitting and she was crushed to death.

The body was brought to the Government Hospital here.
