Coimbatore, August 26, 2025: Ujjivan Small Finance Bank (Ujjivan SFB) announced the launch of Ujjivan Sweep Smart, an auto-sweep feature designed for its Maxima Current Account customers. This innovative feature aims to help businesses and professionals maximise returns on idle funds while ensuring seamless liquidity for day-to-day transactions.

With Ujjivan Sweep Smart, surplus balances in Maxima Current Accounts will automatically get transferred into short-term fixed deposits, enabling the customers to earn the benefit of interest on surplus fund. The sweep-out process is triggered every Monday when the account balance exceeds ₹ 4 lakhs, with the excess amount (in multiples of ₹ 10,000) automatically moved into a fixed deposit with a tenure of 180 days. Customers also have the flexibility to set a custom threshold, starting from ₹ 4 lakhs, based on their business requirements.

What sets Ujjivan Sweep Smart apart is its intelligent sweep-in mechanism. In case of a shortfall in the account balance, the linked deposits get partially liquidated again, in multiples of ₹ 10,000. This happens on a last-in, first-out basis and without any foreclosure penalties. The fixed deposits created through this feature, carry an interest rate of 6% p.a. for a tenure of 180 days, which may be revised in future. This is in line with the Reserve Bank of India regulations, which do not auto-renew, thereby giving customers full control over their cash flow. Standard regulatory norms, including TDS, apply to these deposits.

The Ujjivan Sweep Smart feature is now available to new eligible Maxima Current Account holders. Customers can activate the service by contacting their relationship managers or visiting their nearest Ujjivan SFB branch.
