A big tree got uprooted and fell on the tracks between the Kallar and Aderley railway station, leaving about 200 passengers of the Nilgiri Mountain Rail (NMR) stranded for nearly two hours today.

The area had witnessed constant rains the past few days. The train, with nearly 200 passengers, left Mettupalayam at 7.10 AM as usual, but was stopped after crossing the Kallar station following information about an uprooted tree that had fallen on the railway track.

It took two hours for the Railways and PWD authorities to remove the tree and cleared the track.
