Veerasaivas seek most backward community status

Coimbatore: Veerasaiva community in Tamil Nadu has appealed to the State Government to put its members in the list of Most Backward Class (MBC).

In a resolution adopted at the conference of Tamil Nadu Veerasaiva Federation here yesterday, it said there was a good number from the community in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

To get benefits, both in education and for employment, the community should be brought under MBC list, it said in a statement today.

In another resolution, it urged the Government to install a statue of reformer Sri Basaveshwara at Marina Beach in Chennai.
