Villagers demand withdrawal of proposal to open liquor outlet

A group of villagers today urged the District Collector to withdraw the proposal to open a new liquor outlet on Kinathukadavu-Chokkanur road, as the area consist of large number of school-going girls and working women.

The villagers, including women, from Pottayandiputhur, Vadaputhur and Thottathusalai near Kinathukadavu in the district, submitted a memorandum in this regard, to Collector, T N Hariharan.

The people in the area are already agitated labour the construction works going on towards opening of the liquor outlet.

Considering the future of students and women in the area, the administration should immediately withdraw its order for the proposed outlet, they said.
