Coimbatore : A 35-year-old woman was killed and her husband seriously injured, when a jelly-laden lorry fell on their house at Sungam Bypass in the city in the early hours of today.
The tipper lorry carrying jelly stones was proceeding to Pachapalayam when it suddenly swerved and hit the house, resulting in collapse of sidewall, which fell on Victoria, who was sleeping. The accident happened around 4 am.
The lorry fell sideways on the house and poor visibility was said to be the reason for the mishap, according to police.

Victoria’s husband, Mariadas, an auto driver, was injured seriously and rescued by neighbours to be admitted to the Government hospital. Three persons who were staying in the adjacent house managed to escape unhurt, as they come out after hearing the loud sound.
The 24-year old lorry driver Vignesh is taken into custody and investigations are on, police said.
