Calcutta University releases fresh dates for UG exam 2018: Check here

Calcutta University (CU) has announced the fresh examination dates for undergraduate exam 2018.

As per the schedule released by the varsity, the UG exams started today, August 29 and will continue till September 6.

All the candidates appearing for the exam can check their schedule at www.caluniv.ac.in

According to reports, the examination was postponed due to foundation day of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (student wing) on August 28.

Further, to mark the occasion, party president and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a rally near Mahatma Gandhi’s statue on Mayo Road.

TMCP denies claims:

While denying the claims of SFI state president, a student wing leader said, “It is an internal matter of the university and only its authorities can clarify why they have taken such a decision. We have nothing to do with this decision.”

TMCP controls more than 90 per cent of the student unions at the 145 colleges affiliated to the university.

Meanwhile, Calcutta University is also taking steps to ban the sale of junk food on campuses.

Here’s what Vice-chancellor of Calcutta University said:

“There is no sale of food items which can be categorised as junk food within the varsity campus. Still we are making everybody, including affiliated colleges, aware of the UGC directive,” said Vice-chancellor of Calcutta University Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee.

“We have also instructed the canteens of the university and affiliated colleges to maintain hygiene norms while cooking items,” Banerjee added
