The Apex court has directed National Testing Agency to extend the dates of NEET 2019 for accepting the application forms by a week for candidates who were unable to apply due to restrictions of age. The Supreme Court said in an interim order that candidates aged 25 years and above can appear for NEET 2019 . The admission of such students to the undergraduate medical courses will be based on the final ruling. The apex court is at present hearing petitions challenging the upper age limit for taking the test which was 25 and 30 years for general and reserved category students respectively.

NEET is the only national-level medical entrance exam organized to select candidates for admission in MBBS, BDS & AYUSH courses offered by all Indian Medical Colleges.

The Change

Eligibility Criteria set by the conducting body is the first step to qualify any examination. All candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria to apply for NEET 2019. The conducting body, NTA has set the criteria but after petitions filed against one of the criteria i.e. Maximum Age Limit – for general category candidates is 25 years and for reserved categories is 30 years, the Supreme court has directed NTA to change this criteria for application process, which NTA has followed.
You can fill the application form only if you clear all the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

As per the notification released by National Testing Agency for NEET 2019, Indian citizens, NRIs, PIOs, OCIs and foreign nationals are eligible to appear for NEET 2019.

All the applicants must not be less than 17 years of age at the time of admission as on May 5 to fill NEET 2019 Application form.

The upper age limit for NEET 2019 has now been removed on the direction of the supreme court and candidates can apply subject to the outcome of the judgement at the time of admissions.

To apply for NEET 2019, students must have English, Physics, Biology and Chemistry in Class XII or equivalent examination. General category students must score a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in aggregate and in the individual subjects. Reserved category candidates are required to score at least 40% while PwD candidates must score a minimum of 45% marks to be eligible.

Things to Keep Ready Before Applying

Applicants are advised to keep certain things handy before they start filling up NEET 2019 application form. This will ensure a smooth flow in the application process. Applicants must also ensure that they use a compatible browser for the filling up the application form of. The following things are required while filling up NEET 2019 Application form: A valid Mobile Number and Email Address, Class X & XII details, A photo-identity proof (Aadhaar Card number, Passport Number, ration card number, bank account, any other valid identity number), Scanned images of passport sized photograph, and signature and of Date of birth certificate, and Credit/Debit card or Net Banking details.

Important Dates

National Testing Agency published NEET 2019 Information brochure on November 1, 2018, registration started on the same date as well. The last date to apply for NEET 2019 was November 30, 2018, which was extended to a week till December 7, 2018, following the update in the eligibility criteria.

The applications were extended till December 7, 2018, and the submission of application fee for NEET 2019 was till December 8, 2018.

NTA will open the correction window for NEET 2019 Applications from January 14 to 31, 2019. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for the year 2019 is scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2019.
