Pursuing higher education from abroad is a dream that many of us have. When it comes to pursuing a higher education from a globally renowned University like University of Toronto (UT) it becomes all the more exciting. Ranked among the top 30 Universities of the world, University of Toronto offers more than 700 Undergraduate (UG) and over 280 masters and doctoral level graduate program spanning across various fields to local and International students.

The University is renowned for its quality of education and offers a well-set infrastructure for international students to get in. One of the pioneers of higher education in Canada, the University of Toronto attracts students from not only India and Indian subcontinent but from other countries like USA, UK, and Mexico etc.

The education and other related requirements differ based on the country of origin of the International student. However, we would look at the requirements in general for international candidates and would also dig into the fee structure.

Eligibility for International candidates

To start with the requirement process for International students, we would first look at the eligibility criteria for admission to UG and PG course. Then we would shift our focus to other requirements.

For UG Courses

•Candidate must be 10+2 or equivalent pass out as per the system of education in the native country

•Candidates must comply with the standards of education required for admission to UG courses in Canada.

•He/she should not be having any backlogs or supplementary exam that are yet to be cleared.

•The minimum aggregate required for admission into a particular UG course varies from course to course.

•A minimum of 45% aggregate is what that is applicable for all the courses.

•Candidate must have cleared the International English language test for non-native English speaker like ILETS before making an application for admission.

•For admission in certain courses like engineering and medical candidates would be required to pass the entrance test by securing minimum qualifying marks.

For PG Courses

•Candidate must have passed bachelor or equivalent level qualification in the respective domain as per the system of education in the native country.

•Candidate must comply with the standards of education required for admission to PG courses in Canada.

•Candidate must not be having any backlogs or supplementary exam at bachelors or equivalent level that are yet to be cleared.

•The minimum aggregate percentage required for admission into a particular PG course varies from course to course.

•Candidate must have cleared the International English language test for non-native English speaker like ILETS before making an application for admission.

NOTE: If a candidate has pursued the Bachelor’s or equivalent level course from the University of Toronto or any other University in Canada then he/she can apply for respective PG course in a manner similar to domestic student

NOTE: For candidates applying for PG after pursuing their Bachelor’s or equivalent level course from the University of Toronto or any other University in Canada, there would be no need for ILETS or other such English level test score.

Other Requirements

•International candidates should apply for a study permit and entry visa as soon as they receive their admission letter from the University of Toronto.

•For candidates who are under the age of 18 would be required to have guardianship.

•Guardianship is they would be required to find a citizen of Canada to act as a guardian until they attain the age of 18 or for the duration of your stay in Canada whichever is earlier.

•If any of candidate’s (who are below 18 years) relative or a family member are a native citizen of Canada then they can act as Guardian.

•Candidates making application only for the University of Toronto must apply using the ‘University of Toronto International application’ tab.

•Candidates willing to be considered for Universities in Ontario must apply to the University of Toronto through the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC).
