The JEE Main Selection Process is quite simple. It is a three-stage process – Online Registration, JEE Main examination, and Results & Counselling.

National Testing Agency will be conducting JEE Main 2019, so some changes may be introduced in the selection process. As per the latest updates, the selection process is expected to remain the same as last year.

JEE Main is conducted for admission into the undergraduate engineering programmes (B.Tech, B.E., and B.Arch.) offered by various IITs, NITs, GFTIs, and various Institutes. In this article, we will take you through every step of JEE Main Selection Process.

Online Registration

The first and important step is to apply for JEE Main 2019. If you have not applied for JEE Main, you will not be eligible for the selection process. Before applying for JEE Main 2019, you should check the eligibility criteria set by the conducting authority. In order to apply for the JEE Main exam, you should meet the following criteria:

•NTA has removed the age limit.

•Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in 2017, 2018 or should be appearing for the same in 2019.

•Candidates must have passed in class XII or equivalent exam with Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject, Language and any other subject.

•Candidates who wish to take admission to the architecture course must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

•Candidates must also have a minimum of 75% in Class XII board examination for general category and minimum 65% for SC/ST/PWD candidates.

If you match all the criteria mentioned above, you are eligible to register for JEE Main.

You can only register for JEE Main 2019 through the official website. In order to register for JEE Main, applicants are required to create a JEE Main login account using Aadhaar or any other valid Govt. identity number provided.

You can fill the application form using the login details. You can fill application form either for Paper-I or Paper-II or for both. You will also have to upload the scanned images of requisite documents in the prescribed format and dimensions.

The application fee for JEE Main 2019 can be paid in both online and offline mode. JEE Main Login account can be used in form correction, downloading of JEE Main admit card and JEE Main result too.

JEE Main 2019 Examination

JEE Main 2019 January Session is conducted in 2 shifts. Paper-I was conducted from January 06 to 20, 2019. Paper-II was scheduled to be conducted on one single day i.e. January 08, 2019, in two shifts. JEE Main 2019 April Session is scheduled to be conducted between April 6-20, 2019.

Based on your performance in the examination, your progress to the next step will be decided.

Results & Counselling

JEE Main 2019 Result for January session is expected to be announced on January 31, 2019, and for April Session on April 30, 2019. You will be able to check your result on the official website using your login credentials. Based on the candidates’ performance and JEE Main 2019 Results, the conducting authority will release the Cutoff score for JEE Main 2019 and a merit list will be prepared considering both the sessions.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2019 will be responsible for counselling and seat allocation process for all the qualified candidates who will clear JEE Main 2019. The best score of the two JEE Main session will be taken into consideration while making the merit list.

JoSAA will conduct counselling for JEE Main 2019 qualifying candidates and will allot the seats based on their position in the merit list for admissions to all the participating institutes, which will consist of NITs, IIITs and other-GFTIs. More than 90 institutes will participate in the JoSAA 2019 Counselling.
