Around 10 middle age stone sculptures at the Kaapu forest speak volumes about the life style of people then. The Kaapu forest is around 8 km from Kothagiri.
Under the control of Archaeological department, these 3000–year-old sculptures, are preserved as heritage pieces. Carved carefully on stones, these sculptures, archaeologists say, throw more light on the way people led their lives those days.
Members of the Kurumbar tribe conduct rituals during the annual festival for the sculptures. These sculptures are yet another treasure for Nilgiris.
