Encroachments shrink Narasampathy lake to less than half

Narasampathy lake which is in the West side of Coimbatore had an area of 128 acres. Thanks to the encroachments it has now shrunk to 48 acres. With no water the lake has completely dried up with little scope for birds to feed on the aqua life. People continue to dump garbage and trash into the lake and cattle owners use the space for grazing.
