The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday questioned Shafin Jahan, days after the Supreme Court gave its green signal to it to continue its probe into his marriage with Hadiya, who was a Hindu before her wedding.

Sleuths from the agency questioned him for four hours on Monday for “getting clarifications on certain facts” from his earlier statements. He was questioned a week after the country’s top court gave its consent to carry on investigation into the conversion of Hadiya and her marriage with him.

(The couple’s marriage was annulled by the Kerala High Court last December after her father alleged that his daughter was being indoctrinated and may be taken to IS strongholds in Iraq and Syria.)

Few days ago, the NIA had informed the Supreme Court that it had evidences of Jahan’s conversation with two alleged IS activists Manseed and P. Safvan. The agency had chargesheeted them for their alleged involvement for hatching a conspiracy to target high profile leaders including High Court judges, senior police officers and political leaders.
