Following an interrogation of 13 hours, the DVAC sleuths arrested the Vice Chancellor of Bharathiyar University Ganapathy for having received 1 lakh in cash and 29 lakhs in cheque as bribe. When the DVAC sleuths entered his residence, he is said to have torn 28 notes of Rs 2000 denomination and flushed it in the toilet. While the bail plea has been accepted and is to come to hearing on Feb 6, the VC and Dharamaraj another professor of the Chemistry Department have been lodged in Central Prison.
