More than 1000 members of various trade unions were arrested here on Thursday for staging a road roko demanding fulfillment of their 13-point charter of demands. Their demands included Rs. 18,000 minimum wage and withdrawal of Road Safety Bill.

The members – belonging to AITUC, CITU, INTUC – staged rokos in various parts of the city, including near the collectorate. They raised slogans against the Centre for its ‘anti-people and anti-labour’ policies. The members threatened to continue their strike till their demands were met.

Traffic was disrupted for more than one hour at important junctions.
