From Covai to Ladakh: City bike enthusiasts cover 9000 km in 23 days

Three bike enthusiasts fuelled their passion by covering over 9,000 kms from here to Ladakh in 23 days through icy and rough terrain.

Sharing their experience during the journey in Harley-Davidson Street 750 motor cycles, Vivek, a businessman having food processing firm and printing firm, showered praise on the locals, particularly Jammu and Kashmir, Leh and Ladakh who extended all possible help to complete their sojourn.

“Not knowing Hindi and local languages was not a handicap for us as the locals assisted us in getting food, providing shelter through sign languages,” Vivek said.

“Though the villagers had not heard of Tamil Nadu, the name Chennai was well known among them thanks to Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone blockbuster Chennai Express,” 22-year old Gowtham Raj, said.

The people throughout the sojourn were eager to know more about their vehicles, security gadgets, as they were mostly familiar with Bullet motor cycles, that is mostly used by the Army, he said.

“Army personnel too helped us a lot'” 52-year-old G. Mohan, a private banker, said.

At the same time prominent magician S.A.C. Vasanth was selected to participate in Harley-Davidson’s Canada’s Centenary Celebrations. He covered 5440 km in Canada in H-D COV.

“I lived my dream of cruising on the international streets,” Vasanth said, adding that there was cultural exchange between the riders of other countries, as he displayed his skills in yoga and dances from Tamil Nadu.

HD Chapter Manager Prashant said Harley Davidson Owners (H.O.G) is an emotion and an integral part of life for all the owners, who connected the riders across the globe with the same motive of making the Harley way of life a reality.
