Chennai: Fielding legend, Jonty Rhodes, South African test and one cricketer, on Wednesday in an inspiring speech to students of Velammal Vidyalaya, Alapakkam urged them to never lose sight of focus towards their goal.

Dedication, determination and devotion are the key to success, he said, adding that sports added to the overall personality of a student. Academics are important and so are sports, he said adding that sports kept the body agile and also kept the mind in sharp condition.

An exercised body has a sharp mind and gave full energy to tackle day to day activities, including academics, he said adding the students ought to make the most of their learning days for a better life, in any chosen walk of life.

Jonathan Neil Rhodes, the greatest fielder of all times, is a fielding coach of Mumbai Indians in the IPL. He visited Velammal like many other celebrities and leaders in different walks of life have done before to speak with the students.

The highlight of the day was that the sports council, ECAYLP students and Topper of the Toppers were honored in the presence of the cricket star. He gave an inspirational speech amidst the students that kindled the students’ minds.

He told the students to play an active role in games and stressed on the importance of physical fitness.
