New Year round the corner, youngsters are getting ready for their celebrations where travelling seems to be on top instead of partying.

While many hotels and resorts here are hosting late night DJ parties to welcome 2018, some youngsters prefer to travel to not-so-popular tourist destinations or go trekking to calmly welcome the new year.

Techie S Sounder said, “My friends and I are planning to travel to South Goa. It is a calm place and different from the usual party culture which Goa is known for. It is also popular for its beaches and also for rich Portuguese legacy. We wish to start the new year this way because travelling helps us to stay away from the usual chores in our hometown. Also travelling to a new place gives us different experiences and we get to know about many new things. Isn’t it interesting to start the New Year on a learning note?”

Dentist Dr Vandana said, “I’m travelling to Yelagiri with my family to welcome 2018. I just want to relax and spend the whole time with my family to welcome New Year, which I won’t be able to if I’m in my hometown. I’m not much interested in partying.”

Bimal Prasad, a student, said, “I’m trekking to Munnar. Want to start the new year with healthy goals and hence I preferred trekking. Also, it will be a memorable experience and unique rather than partying all night.”
