Elderly woman found murdered

An elderly woman was found dead in her house at Sundakamuthur on Wednesday night.

According to police, Kamalam. C (70) was living alone in her house at Bank Street, Sundakamuthur. Her husband Chinnappan died six months ago.

On Wedesday night, her son Nagamanickam, who stays at Goundanpudur in Alandurai, came to see his mother. On finding the front door bolted from inside, he knocked the door many times.

When Kamalam did not open the door for a long time, a suspicious Nagamanickam broke open the door and entered the house, where he saw his mother lying dead. A grinding stone, that was used to attack her, was found beside her body.

On information, police and forensic experts rushed to the spot. A police dog that was brought to the scene ran till a chips factory, one kilometre away from the house.

Perur police have registered a case under Section 302 of IPC and are investigating.
