Thirunavukarasu blasts BJP TN chief on Cauvery issue

Coimbatore : TNCC president S Thirunavukarasu today termed as `out of place argument’ by BJP state president Tamilisai Soundarajan that those blaming the Centre on Cauvery issue could have talked to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and the Karnataka Chief Minister for a solution.

It was an unnecessary argument to divert the issue. The Narmada issue involving Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat was solved through the Supreme Court and not the BJP governments in the two States or Amit Shah, Thirunavukarasar told mediapersons here.

Rahul Gandhi did not speak in favour of Karnataka or against Tamil Nadu over the issue and blamed the social media for spreading such news. When pointed out that Karnataka was opposing the formation of Cauvery Managament Board, he said that there was no justification in blaming that State at this stage.

If Karnataka opposed after the formation of the board, there was a point, he said, adding that once the board was formed he would meet Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in this regard.

He expressed confidence that party workers would cooperate in hoisting black flag atop their houses and wearing black dress in protest against the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chennai. This was decided by all parties, On preventing IPL matches in the State, he said people were not forced to go and watch the matches and those with Cauvery sentiments could boycott it.

Instead of stopping IPL, all the TASMAC liquor shops across Tamil Nadu could be closed till the board was constituted, he added.
