Foundation stone laying ceremony for housing project performed

COIMBATORE: State Municipal Administration Minister S.P. Velumani on Monday performed Foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of Rs. 26.99 crore housing projects for the urban poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awaz Yojana.

The Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Control Board has taken up the construction of 305 apartments for the poor people under Housing for All scheme in R S Puram, Kallamedu and Selvapuram areas.

While 84 houses will be built at R.S. Puram at a cost of Rs.7.97 crore, 120 tenements will be at Selvapuram with an outlay of Rs.11.07 crore A total of 100 apartments at a cost of Rs. 7.95 crore will be constructed at Kallamedu.

Velumani also inaugurated a renovated swimming pool, with international standards, at Gandhipark at a cost of Rs. 187.1 lakhs.
District Collector T.N. Hariharan, Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan and several others were present.
