COIMBATORE: A team of students from City-based Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College was declared national winner for its innovative work on health care – Articulation Mechanism with Wide Angle View for Diagnostic Hysteroscopy Products at the nationwide talent hunt held here.
More than 9,000 students from 220 engineering colleges participated in TECHgium, a nationwide initiative of L&T Technology Services.
The multi-staged talent hunt that involved 30 challenges (defined by LTTS clients) required students to create concepts, submit abstracts, present technical papers and showcase proof of concepts to address the challenges.
Students from IITs, IIITS, VIT, SRM University and PSG college of Technology were part of this competition. Around 40 teams (with 105 students) reached the final round.
The jury comprised Raman Ganapathiraman, ARC Advisory Group, Dr. R. Naval Gund, former Director of ISRO, Ahmedabad, Viswanathan of NASSCOM and L&T Technology Services.
The winning team – B. Pavithra, P. Pranesh, M. Keerthana Mithra and K. Kavya (all from Computer Science department) – was presented with Rs. 5 lakh cash award, a certificate of appreciation.
The students were mentored by Prof. M. Karthigha & Dr. A. Murugarajan. The students will get an opportunity to work in L&T Technology Services.
The award was given away by CEO and MD of LTTS, Dr. Keshab Panda. This is the second consecutive year that the college has bagged the first place in LTTS.
