Coimbatore : A Sub-inspector of Police was injured, when a four-member gang attacked him, for questioning on consuming liquor near an outlet in the morning in nearby Tirupur.

Annadurai, who was on his morning rounds, noticed the gang consuming liquor in open place near Government-run TASMAC outlet and asked its staff how they sold the liquor around 9 AM.

Angered at this, the gang assaulted Annadurai, resulting in fracture on his hand and was taken and admitted to a private hospital, police said.

The gang members have been secured and are being questioned along with the Tasmac staff, since the shop can start business only at 12 Noon.
