Coimbatore: A surveyor attached to Sulur tahsildar office was today caught red handed, while allegedly accepting money to show official favour.

According to police, the surveyor Kathiresan has reportedly demanded Rs.30,000 from a farmer in Sultanpet for issuing a deed for his land.

The farmer had given Rs.10,000 to the official a week ago to settle the issue, but Kathiresan demanded more money, they said.

The farmer approached the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption officials, who, as part of trap, asked him to give the balance money. As the farmer was handing over the chemical-laced currency notes, the officials arrested Kathiresan red handed, police said.
