Coimbatore : A floral replica of Mettur Dam is the one of the major attractions at the 122nd edition of Annual Flower Show in Udhagamandalam in Nilgiris district, inaugurated today by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy.
Besides the dam, made of nearly 1 lakh white and yellow carnation, a six-ft tall Barbie doll, dressed up with nearly 1,500 archit and 1,000 coronation flowers, was another cynosure of the eyes of large number of visitors, thronging the Government Botanical Gardens, the venue of the 50-day show.
A ‘selfie spot’ has been set up for the benefit of tourists and youths.
Nearly 180 varieties of flowers such as inca marigold, French marigold, sylvia and blossom were on display in over 50,000 pots. Palanisamy went around the gardens, along with Ministers S P Velumani and Thangamani, flanked by senior district and police officials, amid tight security in and around the area.
