Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister,K Palanisamy on Saturday sought to know whether DMK president M K Stalin, who met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, raised the issue of the checkdam being constructed across Palar in that State.

He told reporters at the city airport that Stalin had not raised the issue of Palar (affecting Tamil Nadu) as he wanted only power and was not interested in people’s welfare.

“DMK is forging an opportunistic alliance. Was BJP not an communal party when DMK had alliance with it,” Palanisamy asked and said AIADMK would support those doing good to Tamil Nadu.

About the 18 disqualified MLAs, he said they were responsible for slow development in their constituencies. However, welfare schemes were being carried out in all the constituencies, he said.

DMK had failed to provide any evidence of corruption charges levelled against some ministers, he said, and wanted to know why DMK was going on seeking stay in the Secretariat case.

On the controversy over the Vijay-starrer, ‘Sarkar’, Palanisamy said the media should take the free schemes to the people. Even the film director’s relatives had benefited from the scheme, he said. The media should also highlight the salary drawn by actors and also the exorbitant tickey prices, he said.

About Kamal Haasan’s criticism on the issue, the Chief Minister said that when he had faced a similar problem, he had said he would leave the country.

“When he cannot tackle his own problem, how will he solve people’s problem,” Palanisamy asked and said the people had given him ‘retirement’ from films. All preventive measures were being taken to prevent the spread of the viral fevers like H1N1 and dengue, he added.
