Chennai : President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday urged the people to learn another language that was always an asset.

Addressing a gathering at the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha hereafter unveiling a statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the President said, “Learning the language of another region will be educative and would also open a window to a culture that is at once familiar and new.” If states promoted the languages of other regions, it would greatly help in national integration.

Tamil poet Subramania Bharati inspired not just the people of Tamil Nadu but all across the country, he said adding even ideas EV Periyar or EV Ramaswamy travelled far and wide in the country.
The President cited two big leaders from the state, india’s last Governor General C.Rajagopalachari and President R.Venkataraman to say that they were multilingual intellectuals.

According to Kovind with economy growing there will be internal migration of youth for jobs or education and knowing the language of the state or region where one would be will be an asset.

Knowledge of another language only added value to a person.

The President said he was happy that the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, founded by Mahatma Gandhi, has completed 100 years and had worked for the promotion of Hindi in southern states.
