Chennai : Chennai-based young woman leader Aishwaraya Kalro and her initiative, Social Pukar, has created a buzz with its focus on putting the spotlight on lesser known NGOs, changemakers and upcoming leaders of the country.

More important, she has taken up skill building initiative, which for this 21-year old is the most important and essential thing India must do if the country wants to cash in on the demographic dividend. She is the belief that education system in the country does not equip most of the students with the skillsets needed to get ahead in life after academics.

While most like her just went to college, Aishwaraya was more than a regular college student. At just 18, she founded this non-profit called Social Pukar.

Social Pukar is spreading and gaining traction across the nation. She is focusing on helping young students polish their skills and talents through the Skill Building Initiative through Social Pukar. She said, “if you build your skills, you build your success. And I can’t emphasize enough on this!”

And she has a comment to make on the education system. “The Indian Education system gives importance to marks. Not grades. That’s exactly why, skill deficit hampers our growth,” she said.

“While most people dream, I work very hard to watch them come true! I don’t hesitate burning the midnight lamp oil or going the extra mile,” Aishwaraya told Covai Post.

Only 21 and Aishwaraya is already making a positive impact.

The U.S Consulate General, has already recognised her as a young Social Entrepreneur and a change maker. This out-of-the-box thinker is wise beyond her age. “I don’t take anything for granted. Especially my work. For me, work is worship,” she said.

She encourages each one to find their own calling. “If you’re engaged in doing something that you truly love with all your heart and soul, working is a pleasure not a pain!” Aishwaraya asserted. She was never a school topper but she always excelled in fields of her interest- media and communications. She may have not topped in school but she has surely come out with flying colors in life! She said she believed “marks and age are just numbers. Nothing more than that.”

Aishwaraya is a people’s person but at the same time, she is a no-nonsense person with a strong inclination for justice. “I believe in doing the right thing and like to play fair-and-square.”

With Aishwaraya, you get what you see. “I’m a warm-blooded woman. I’m deeply passionate about the work I do, causes I advocate or people I associate with.” Just when you think she has made it big, she turns shy, “I believe the best is yet to come. I have bigger dreams to chase and more goals to accomplish,” she said.

Aishwaraya’s eyes gleam with hope, her smile feels like sunshine and her down-to-earth nature adds to her endearing personality. As a professional, she is ferociously driven to make a positive impact on the society.
