A differently-abled man has alleged that the Employment Exchange office in Coimbatore had demanded bribe from him to place him in a government job.

K.Gopal (40) a differently-abled man told Covai Post, “I’m an orphan and physically-disabled. I was working at private pumps and motors firm for the past seven years as a daily wage labour.

The company failed to give me Employees State Insurance (ESI) and Employees Provident Fund (EPF).Worse still they
did not even treat me as a human being and sent me out of company. I went to the Employment Exchange Office to get a government job. For many years, it continued to remain pending as they were expecting bribe from me. Finally, I went to the Coimbatore District Collectorate Office and filed a petition against this.”

A. Jothimani, Assistant Director of Employment Exchange Office, hadn’t taken any action on this, Gopal alleged.

Once she had sent him to a government office for a sweeper job, but officials are expecting kickbacks and commissions from him to let him continue the job. Despite being a disabled person, he has not received any support from the government or the authorities, he lamented

Finally he has threatened to immolate himself in front of a District Collectorate if no action is taken against the corrupt officials.
