Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary, Kailash Vijayvargiya has dropped the latest bombshell in the Madhya Pradesh honeytrap case, alleging the involvement of journalists in the scandal that has rocked the politics of the state.

Answering a question on the involvement of BJP leaders in the case, Kailash Vijayvargiya said, “Journalists are involved in the case. I have names of 3-4 journalists who are involved. I also have information that journalists acted as mediators in extorting money in the case.”

“The case is impacting the image of the state across the country and we as politicians should refrain from accusing each other in front of the public,” Kailash Vijayvargiya added while stressing the need for a free and fair investigation.

Kailash Vijayvargiya’s assertion that journalists served as mediators has not been denied by the police.

According to top sources associated with the investigation, objectionable videos of a former BJP MP have been recovered and the initial probe revealed that the honeytrap gang extorted Rs 3 crore from the BJP lawmaker.

The money was paid through a journalist who is alleged to be part of the extortion nexus, a top source said.

On whether the journalist and his associates would be questioned, the source said, “It is a little too early to say who will be questioned and who won’t, but one thing is clear, anyone involved in the scam will not be spared.”

The state government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case and is also looking into the favours that were granted by the honey-trapped men to the members of the gang.

Less than a week ago, the Madhya Pradesh Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Bhopal Police in a joint operation detained three women in the state capital on Wednesday for allegedly blackmailing politicians and high ranking government officials after discreetly recording their private videos.
