Rajnath Singh assures TN of all possible help

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has assured Tamil Nadu of all possible help. In a Tweet, Rajnath Singh, who is in China, said that he had spoken to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and assured her of all possible assistance.

“The Centre is assisting the state agencies of Tamil Nadu in rescue and relief ops. Assured TN CM of all possible help,” Rajnath Singh tweeted.

Meanwhile, Jayalalithaa said she had requested the Union Home Minister to speedily dispatch a Central team to make an on-the-spot assessment of the flood situation in Tamil Nadu and to recommend Central assistance without delay. She apprised him of the flood situation in the State and said her government would submit a detailed memorandum seeking central assistance by next week.

Rajnath Singh, in his response, said the Central team would be deputed once the Centre received the memorandum.

The Tamil Nadu government was working on assessing the quantum of damage caused by the rains and the floods, she said adding that that the State government will submit its detailed memorandum seeking assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund and other Central government funding by November 23.
