Three persons, including two lawyers and a functionary of Hindu Maha Sabha, were arrested today on charges of misbehaving with the crew and passengers of a Chennai-bound flight. The flight took off last night from here, and the three were reportedly under the
influence of liquor.

The lawyers, Senthilkumar and Raja of Perundhurai in Erode district and Subhash Swaminathan, Vice-President of Akhil BharathaHindu Maha Sabha Tamil Nadu unit,
boarded a Indigo flight scheduled to leave for Chennai at 10.45 p.m., police said.

Trouble began when a lawyer reportedly took photographs of an air hostess using his mobile. She objected to this, and a few passengers also warned them against this. A quarrel broke out, and the pilot too intervened and asked the lawyers to behave properly.

A majority of the passengers reportedly threatened to deboard if the trio were allowed to travel in it. The crew preferred a complaint with the Airport authorities, who alerted both police and CISF personnel, manning the airport, the police said.

Based on the complaint, the trio were taken to the nearby police station for questioning,
even as the flight left for Chennai around 11.45 p.m., after an hour’s delay.

FIR was filed against the three around 2 a.m. and case registered against them under Sec IPC 354 and Woman Harassment Act, they said.

All the three were produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court and Magistrate Rajavelu remanded them to judicial custody until December 2.
