Coimbatore: The inaugural function for first-year B.E and B.Tech students was held with great enthusiasm at Nehru Institute of Technology, Coimbatore.

The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony performed jointly by the Chief Guest, Guests of honour, the Pro-Chancellor, P K Das Deemed to be University, CEO and Secretary, Nehru Group of Institutions, the College Principal, parents, and students. Speaking as a chief guest Dr. Jayanthasri Balakrishnan remarked that a student’s life is like a chariot, which can reach great heights only when parents pull one rope and teachers pull the other, working together. She added that a person’s thoughts are what ultimately define who they are.

Another guest of honour, Dr. Venkateswaran Loganathan, said that if Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology is used the right way, it can pave the way for solid employment opportunities. Delivering the presidential address, Dr. P. Krishnakumar, Pro-Chancellor, P K Das Deemed to be University, CEO and Secretary, Nehru Group of Institutions, urged students to stay informed about advancements in technology and develop their skills accordingly. Following this, College Principal Dr. M. Sivaraja recalled the achievements of the institution’s alumni and felicitated them on stage.

The event was graced by Dr. Chaitanya Krishnakumar, the Correspondent of Nehru International School and H.N. Nagaraja, Executive Director of the Nehru Group of Institutions. Heads of departments Dr. K. Parimala Gandhi and Dr. T. Jayaprakash introduced the other department heads and centre heads present. Earlier, second-year students welcomed the first-year students with flower bouquets. The function, attended by a large gathering of parents and students, concluded on a joyous note.
