The Principal District Sessions court here on Friday ordered the five Maoists to submit their signatures and hand writings in four languages as part of investigation.

The Maoists, who were arrested from Karunamathampatti in the first week of May, were produced before the court, as their remand period was expiring today.

As the judge Pongiappan asked whether they were submitting the required details in the court then and there, the Maoists, through their lawyer, informed that they preferred to appeal against the order in the Madras High Court.

The Judge then posted the matter for August 7. The prosecution Q Branch wing of police have filed a petition in the court seeking the samples of signature and handwritings to compare them with the literature and documents seized from various places.

However, the defense lawyer argued that the prosecution had not submitted any documents in the court and were appealing against the order.

All the Maoists – Roopesh, Shyna, Anoop, Kannan and Veeramani – also appealed the Court to revoke their detention under NSA.

Meanwhile, one of the accused claimed that Roopesh, who was under custody of Kerala police was on hunger strike for the last five days, since police wanted to foist false charges against him.
