Losing DMDK as an ally upsets DMK

The opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu on Friday said that it will not hold further talks with Vijayakanth’s Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) as the actor had failed to respond.
DMK Chief M. Karunanidhi’s son M.K. Stalin noted that there would be no further discussion on poll alliance with the DMDK.”At present there are no talks with DMDK. Our party is busy with poll-related works”, he said.
He also added that their party was “keenly working to defeat the ruling AIADMK”.
“We had invited him and it was up to Vijayakanth to decide about joining us as our ally. We are not worried about what he is going to decide. His recent announcement of going it alone in the polls will not dent our victory. We are now concentrating fully on the elections “, the DMK leader said.
After trying and failing to woo Vijayakanth, the DMK now was engaged in poll alliance talks with small outfits, which have offered unconditional support to the party.
Vijayakanth’s decision to go it alone in the polls came as a severe setback, especially for the DMK, though it had offered whatever seats was demanded by DMDK. However, it is said that the actor did not go along with DMK as it was not willing to accept him as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
BJP, which also made series of attempts to make an ally of Vijayakanth to revive NDA, was still trying to bring DMK to its fold.
