Coimbatore’s Holi celebrations begins with a debut party

Holi, the festival of colours, falls on March 23 this year, but Coimbatore has already started celebrating!
The city-based hospitability provider, Jenneys Club, hosted its debut Holi party, which was a blend of tradition and contemporary trends. The party, hosted on the lawns of Jenneys Club, was called Holi in the City. It had all elements to keep the crowd entertained. The party began at around 5:30 pm, just when the blazing summer-like heat began to subside. Once darkness set in, the party went neon, with various shades of the vibrant colour taking centrestage.
Coimbatore-based DJ Brett Tanner declared the party open, and in style. He played some great music while the crowds, who had come in groups, began throwing colours on each other. Taking a break from his music consol, DJ Brett declared that he was all excited to play. “The crowd is in celebrative mood and I hope to add colour to the celebrations with some great music,” he said and went back to spinning some great music.
Guests continued to walk in, even after the party began.
The host, 22-year-old Chantel Vincent was prepared to accommodate last minute requests from guests. Having completed her certified course in event management in the US, Holi in the City is the first party hosted by Chantel under the L A Group banner. A cool and composed Chantel was on her toes, running last minute checks and welcoming guests who were a mix of college students and regular party-goers.
“I’m all excited that the Coimbatore crowd has received this party very well,” Chantel said. “It has all elements to keep them entertained and we will be celebrating the festival of colours in style.”
On one corner of the venue, there were stalls selling accessories for the day, and for the night, for men and women. The accessories for the day included bright coloured shutter sunglasses, happy feather band, neon hats, feather earrings, turban twist knot, and Mohawk punk wigs, among others. LED bubble bracelet, LED star necklace, LED flashing fans, LED belts, LED balloons, LED fibre optic headbands, glow earrings, glow hearts, and glow rounds in different fluorescent colours of orange, pink, blue, green and yellow came alive post sunset.
The crowd continued to dance to the tunes of DJ Brett Tanner who played a mix of Desi numbers and some RMD. Dinner that included a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian North Indian dishes was served. Many of the party-crowd didn’t mind eating an early dinner.
All the guests were given a T-shirt, five packets of Holi colours, and glow bracelets. Also, special mocktails like Golgappa Vodka shots, ice shots, and jello shots were served.
