Students of the Government Law College here today staged a road roko at the Coimbatore Junction condemning the attacks on Tamil-speaking people in Karnataka and vehicles bearing Tamil Nadu registration numbers.

The students, who stormed into the junction around 4.30 p.m., marched towards platform number 4 where the Coimbatore-Trissur Passenger train was sided. They climbed on the train and some of them blocked the track raising slogans against the Centre and Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Governments.

Claiming that the Governments had failed in curbing the attacks and implementing the apex court directive, the students appealed to the Prime Minister to intervene in the issue to arrive at a solution. “Tamil Nadu has been affected and we have remained silent. If the Governments do not act, the student community will join hands and stage a massive protest,” said a student.

Police arrested them.
