As pictures and audio clips make the rounds on social media with fabricated details of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health, the AIADMK cadre has taken up the matter with the police again and filed a complaint with the city Commissioner.

Around 15 AIADMK cadres lodged a petition at the Commissioner’s office in Vepery this morning, pressing for action against persons spreading the rumours.

Addressing the press, they said that such persons must be arrested, including the unidentified owner of the Facebook page Tamizachi, who had sparked off controversies with the posts. Today’s development comes even as the city police, on Sunday, arrested two persons for spreading malicious information.

The men were arrested by the Cyber Crime division of the Tamil Nadu Police for their vendetta against the chief minister, who was admitted to Apollo Hospital on September 22. The accused have been identified as Satish Kumar, an IT professional from Tiruchengode and Madasami, who has completed ITI in AC mechanic trade from Madurai.

Satish, an MCA, works in a private institution, while Madasami runs a social media page called Tamilentertainment.co.in, which carried the baseless information on Jayalalithaa’s health. They have been brought to Chennai and placed under judicial custody.

The city cyber crime police started taking action in this regard after the AIADMK IT wing lodged a complaint against the Tamizachi page on Facebook. The page has over seven lakh ‘likes’, with the site admin claiming to be based in France.
